About the Vice President

Dr. Michael J. Tate’s role at Washington State University expanded in June 2007 when WSU President Elson S. Floyd asked him to provide leadership for the Division of Student Affairs in addition to his duties as Vice President for the Office of Equity and Diversity. The result was the formation of a brand-new area called The Division of Student Affairs, Equity and Diversity. He was named interim vice president of Equity and Diversity in 2004 before accepting that position permanently in 2005.
